Mikayla emailed me the other day saying that she won her class Spelling Bee and was on her way to the school's spelling bee the next week. She wanted me there so I took the morning off to watch the school spelling bee. I wasn't thinking too much of it, I mean she's in 4th grade and she's spelling against 5th and 6thgraders. So I took my Starbucks into the auditorium to watch. She was confident, spoke clearly and was well practiced so I wasn't all that surprised when she was the "last 4th grader standing". I began to get nervous when she was up against the 5th and 6th graders only. So nervous that I totally forgot to take photos...so I watched as the last 5th grader sat down and Miki was left with two 6th graders and herself. She started to look a little nervous when the other 6th grader sat down, now it was against her and a 6th grade boy. They had a heated match and finally....my little 4th grader was the last one standing and the Spelling Bee Champion of her elementary school. She is on her way to the County Spelling bee this weekend. I've heard that she is one of a very few 4th graders to make it this far, so I'm not holding my breath. But I am very proud of my speller!!!!
